The Founders
The Story of Us
Once upon a time there was us. Two girls who love being women and all the fun, crazy, confusing and fabulous things that means! One day we noticed something in ourselves. And though our lives started far far away from each other, a common bond brought this American and Australian together. To unite for a shared love and purpose, a noble beautiful goal – To bring more joy, love and simplicity to THE ART OF BEING A WOMAN.
To create a space for a shared journey because what we noticed in ourselves was a quiet sadness somewhere deep, so deep in fact that sometimes we weren’t even sure what it was. And when we checked around we found we were not alone. And so together we decided to do something about it. Wherever you are, whoever you are, come join us on this journey. YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
Meet Elli J
Star sign: Capricorn
Love to hangout: In Bookstores
Worst hair: Bleached fringe (… because yes I am brunette!)
Can’t live without: Still can’t decide
The roles I am playing right now: Mother, Relationship, Authentic, Style, Body, Friend, Visionary
Home Town: Elli had a very traditional Sydney upbringing, in the city that she has always called home. That included her mum, dad, brother and a menagerie of animals: Zsa Zsa, Pepper, Ginger, CoCo, Charlie, Snoopy and Sneezy…
Past: Elli worked in various marketing and publishing roles and enjoyed the freedom of copywriting and creative design, bringing out her own quarterly Sydney Magazine. After having her son, Elli decided she wanted to make a difference in the world and went on a windy sometimes crazy search for something to be passionate about.
Present: A great love and passion for working with women all started one late night watching reality TV Makeover shows where the Kleenex got a good workout! She realised what she wanted to do and started B.A.B.E (Be all U Can Be), a company dedicated to women with a focus on style and well being inside and out. She went on to study and work with great authors and speakers in the areas of self empowerment and well being.
What she learnt is that she needed to do more. And she kept bumping into Heather! Soon enough their shared passion created Lives of A Woman – a way to unite their dreams and be able to impact so many more women all around the globe.
Future: I can’t wait to hear your stories and share more of mine. I especially look forward to sharing on my blog about my very exciting Sex And The City Lifestyle experiment. I have decided to be my own guinea pig and take a year out to study more about myself and this Art of being a Woman. Is it possible to Live the SEX AND THE CITY LIFESTYLE for real? And why do so many of us LOVE Carrie and the girls? I am embarking on a modern day spiritual quest to find out. And I need your help! Remember, YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
Meet Heather Porter
Star sign: Gemini
Love to hangout: Online
Worst hair: 1980′s high bangs – you know, the kind where you curl half so the top sticks straight up!
Can’t live without: My MacBook Pro
The roles I am playing right now: Mentor, Visionary, Relationship, Style
Home Town: Heather changed homes (and cities) on average every three years as her father climbed the corporate ladder. The higher the ladder got the nicer the homes (thank you dad). This allowed her to explore the far north to the central valley of California with her mother, father and two younger sisters (one who is actually writing in this community!). Some said her houses were more like suburban farms with the collection of ducks, chickens, cats, dogs and birds that often took up residence.
Past: Heather has always worked in events in a producer/manager role even while in university studying for her business degree. This included special events in night clubs, fundraisers, art shows and seminars. It is actually the exposure to the personal development industry through her work in seminars with speaker and author Tony Robbins that inspired her to jump ship to Sydney in her late twenties to start a new life – one that she knew she deserved and one where she could find what she was meant to do in this lifetime.
Present: Heather has now found her groove as a connector, mentor and internet marketer. Heather recently left her role as the Managing Director and Co-Founder of the exclusive Billionaire Adventure Club with speaker and lifestyle strategist Christopher Howard. Her love of connecting and helping people with her networks has led her to her next stage of professional development – the internet. In addition to running Lives of a Woman with Elli, she focuses on running Autopilot Your Business with Andrew McCauley (The Social Media Bloke) and managing her own blog where she helps give advice to people on how to be recognized online as an expert.
Future: I can’t wait to focus on the themes of this community – be yourself, keep it simple and think for yourself” – so women can learn to get the most out of life and ask better questions. It is my vision to create a safe and fun online space where anyone can come and connect at any level they want to, whether as a contributor, commenter or simply a fly on the wall. I also look forward to sharing my experiences with you about my work as a social entrepreneur on the “humanitarian” channel. Remember, YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
