Help Centre
Here are some tips to help you participate in and navigate around our community.
To participate:
1) How can I make comments?
At the base of each article is an area to leave a comment. Write in your name, email, website and comment. Your email will not show. It is used to assign a gravatar, or image of you. When your comment is posted it will have a link to your website, which is a great way to get links to your site and help with your search engine rankings. If you leave an amazing comment our readers will want to find out more about you and go to your website. So remember to make it valuable. Our contributors will appreciate it too!
2) What is a gravatar and how can I get one?
It is the little image that appears next to your name when you comment on blogs. You will notice that many people only have a space holder and not a photo. This is because they have not set up a gravatar. A gravatar is a great way to brand yourself, especially if you will be a frequent commenter on both our channels and other blogs. Go to www.gravatar.com to sign up for one. You will need to confirm that you have a valid email by clicking on the link they send you and then upload a photo. Remember to use your email address that you will use when commenting on blogs.
3) How long will it take until my comment appears after I have submitted it?
The first time you make a comment it will be moderated and approved. This generally takes about 24 hours. Once you are approved on one channel you can leave a comment anytime you would like and it is automatically approved.
To subscribe:
1) How can I get updates?
Choose how to get access to our newest articles the moment we publish them. On the right hand side of each channel you will see an orange RSS icon that says “subscribe via RSS” and a place to enter your email to get updates. Choose which option works best for you.
2) What is RSS and how can I use it?
Imagine having your own customized magazine that automatically updates whenever a new article is written by your favourite authors? That is basically what an RSS Reader is. You can set one up by going to Feedburner. You will need a google or gmail account to set it up. From now on whenever you go to a blog or website that you like you can click on the orange RSS symbol on their site. It will give you an option to either add their feed to your Google home page or your reader. Choose your reader. Instead of visiting numerous sites you can visit your reader each day and all the new articles will be fed into it from the sites you signed up for the RSS Feed on. Imagine being kept up to date on your favourite Lives of a Woman Channels all in one place!
