Same Sex, Different Sex, Who Cares?

Honestly, why in this day and age is same sex marriage and same sex parented families even a political debate issue?
I say if anyone is willing to work hard at making a marriage work and are willing to take on the challenge that is parenting, then all the power to them. Legalize it now!
Why should your legal rights be determined by your sexual orientation?
I don’t even know what a “normal” family is.

With the growing rate of divorce, how many children actually live with both biological parents these days anyway?
As a “straight” woman, I know that even though I live with the father of my child, it is my “village” of female friends that help me raise my child. How many women or men in a child’s life is too many?
Just because a child is born into a mum/dad family doesn’t mean they are guaranteed a certain outcome in life, no more certain than a mum/mum or a dad/dad. As long as it’s love/love what else matters?
There is NO such thing as NORMAL!!! (especially when it come to love)
This is not a question of morals or religious beliefs or even natures design, it’s a social question. Is stopping the legalization of same sex marriage really going to stop people being Gay? (as one woman on the radio suggested).
The intelligent answer is; of course NOT!
Ask yourself this; How does two people (I don”t even know) getting married affect me?
REALLY affect me?
I’ll tell you what does affect you though; A crippled health care system, an increasingly inaccessible tertiary education system, a judicial system wrapped in so much red tape it’s costing tax payers millions of dollars a year and a growing divide between the haves and the have nots in the world. When its cheaper to feed your family fast food, that will eventually ail them, than it is fresh produce, you know something is not right in the world. Oh and don’t even get me started on the cost of road tolls in Sydney!!!
Stop being “dumbed down” by these diversionary political tactics and invest your energy into debating the social welfare of all of society, gay & straight!

Another diversionary political tactic……BOAT PEOPLE.
They make up 1% of annual immigration into Australia. Yes it’s illegal, queue jumping, wrong, etc..etc…(a whole other debate), but it’s 1%!!!
WAKE UP!
We are not being invaded by sea! Rather by students and tourists overstaying their visas. But an image of a backpacker throwing up last nights kebab overboard on the Manly ferry doesn’t quite have the same socially terrorizing affect as a baby thrown overboard, now does it? We see what they, the politicians and the media want us to see!
(Just my opinion, apparently it’s healthy to have one! )
